Job Title: Junior Electrician

Location: Dulwich, South East London

Salary: £25,500

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: Normal working hours are 7.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday (with a half hour unpaid lunch break and two paid 15 minute tea breaks).

The company is a boarding and day independent school for boys in Dulwich in southeast London. They are now looking for a Junior Electrician to join their on-site maintenance team.

You will carry out designated site electrical associated with building maintenance throughout the College as directed by Maintenance. The role is also to assist with all site handyperson works as required by the Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Changing lights.
  • Emergency lighting.
  • Three phase power.
  • Maintenance and reactive PPM's.
  • To assist in the installation of electrical equipment as required.
  • Install conduit /trunking (cable containment as required).
  • Run / install a variety of cabling.
  • Undertake general ground installation (trenches, excavations) as required.
  • Assist the Team Leader/Electrician in the installation/modification of electrical tasks as far as electrical regulation allows.
  • Maintenance and up keep of systems in use in all College property inc. low and mains voltage.
  • Assisting the Team Leader/Electrician in the making safe of equipment/system's to Health and Safety standards and legislation.
  • Working to BS7671.
  • Assist during site surveys, test and asset studies as required.
  • Ensure that all work are carried out in accordance with agreed method statements, H&S standards and legislation.
  • To ensure that all allocated handyperson tasks are completed within the required time scales and to the standard required by the college.
  • To carry out general handyman's tasks.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required to support the needs of the department.

Key Requirements:

  • 17th Edition.
  • 2 years electrical work experience within the building industry.
  • Having successfully passed the first and second year of City & Guild or NVQ level 3/part of an apprentice scheme.
  • Clean Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Trade qualification preferred, usually City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
  • Fault finding experience would be desirable.

Personal Qualities:

  • Reliable, punctual, co-operative and enthusiastic.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision but also able to work well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work out of hours to complete tasks when necessary.
