Responsibilities include: Applying and sharing an in-depth knowledge of the banking and payments infrastructure, the conduct standards applicable to deposit taking, payment services and e-money firms and the risks these structures and firms may pose to the organisations objectives. Leading analytical work to identify and scope the highest priority risks to consumers relating to everyday banking and payments. Leading projects on priority risks and key policy areas relating to everyday banking and payments. This will include both desk-based and onsite assessment work with firms where required. Providing expert advice and technical support to firm supervisors and senior management on a wide range of everyday banking and payments subjects. Sharing expertise through informal coaching and support to more junior members of staff. Taking a proactive approach to knowledge sharing e.g. delivering courses or communications on relevant topics. Supporting and assisting the department and more generally to deliver the retail banking and payments strategy. Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including supervisors, policy, competition, enforcement. Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key external stakeholders e.g. trade associations, the Bank of England, the Payment Systems Regulator, regulated and unregulated firms that operate in the payments industry. The role does not include formal management responsibility. However, the successful candidate will be expected to coach and mentor team members and lead projects involving members of the wider retail banking team. Requirements: Significant experience of transactional banking, payments and payment systems, in either a firm or regulatory context. Strong written language skills Experience of leading complex projects from design through to delivery Experience of working within project teams to deliver objectives Strong analytical skills: experience of analysing large amounts of information, to reach sound judgments quickly and make decisions which can be justified in a concise and effective manner.
