The organisation

HelpAge International's vision is a world where older people fulfil their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives. We are the secretariat of the HelpAge global network, bringing together more than 114 affiliates and 200 partners working with older people in over 50 countries.

HelpAge is the lead agency of the Age & Disability Capacity Programme (ADCAP). The ADCAP programme is funded by DFID and OFDA and is part of the Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP), a portfolio of capacity strengthening programmes run by the Start Network. It is delivered by the Age and Disability (A&D) Consortium that also includes Handicap International, CBM, IFRC, RedRUK, Oxford Brookes University and DisasterReady.org.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Programme Manager to support the implementation of this multi-country, multi-agency, collaborative capacity building and mainstreaming programme. This is a maternity leave cover role from Monday 31 July through Friday 2 March 2018, full time.

Key responsibilities

Working in HelpAge International's London-based humanitarian team, you will work closely with country teams and partners to ensure successful implementation of the programme including monitoring, learning and evaluation activities, in coordination with Age and Disability Consortium members, ensuring that the objectives are completed within the timeframe and budget and in accordance with the contractual requirements.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience expected

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in humanitarian, emergency or development work, ideally in a management role. You are familiar with humanitarian standards and have experience in advocacy and policy work. Experience of managing multi-agency, multi-stakeholder programmes, including management of partners or subcontractors, preferably in a leadership role, is required. You will have demonstrated competence in complex grant programme management and knowledge of institutional donor compliance requirements (in particular OFDA and DFID), as well as experience in developing proposals for multi-stakeholder, complex projects, and engaging with donors to secure funding.
