Our client, established for more than a century and renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, are urgently seeking to recruit a highly self-motivated, proactive and dynamic Development Technician to both improve and develop a new generation of bespoke systems, from concept through to full scale industrialisation of a range of high value projects and NPI across international manufacturing facilities.

Reporting to the Global Director of New Product Development, the successful candidate will be tasked with continuously improving existing products within the company portfolio as well as developing new products, monitoring the thermal performance of such products and taking responsibility for the maintenance and condition of the development shop and equipment. You will produce data for applications software in co-operation with other team members and be responsible for planning development tasks in order to control budgets and meet targets.

Other duties will include performing thermal and mechanical tests and travelling to customer sites as required, so a flexible approach to travel and a full clean driving licence are essential for the position.

You will also essentially demonstrate exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) and will prepare detailed and accurate reports for the Global Director of New Product Development on development projects including project plans and statements on budget and progress, and maintain close co-operation with the Sales and Design departments and all other Engineering and Manufacturing departments as required.

To be considered for this exceptionally varied and challenging position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least ONC level or above in Mechanical Engineering and realistically demonstrate at least 3 years' experience of working within a commercial engineering environment.

You will be computer literate and proficient in the MS suite of packages with excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels and exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to multitask.
