My client is a well-established leading independent accountancy practice situated in the heart of Colchester. They are recruiting for an experienced Bookkeeper to work closely with their diverse client portfolio and provide quality bookkeeping services.
Our client boasts a very stable work force with experienced and dedicated team members who provide support and training on the job.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing management accounts effectively from information and documentation provided by clients, ensuring that deadlines are met when needed
- Complete VAT returns
- Maintaining purchases, sales and general ledgers
- Posting month end journals
- Travel to and from client sites
- Ensuring that when working on assignments, all hours are correctly recorded
- Building and maintaining good client relations
- Ensure that an assignment is completed before giving it to a manager to be reviewed
- Ensure appropriate treatment of items such as bonuses, overtime payment etc.
- Cooperate with clients directly or through relevant manager to receive further information or sort out queries
- Applying the appropriate tax codes, liaising with the client and HMRC
- Logging data and processing payments
- Ensuring that a prominent level of service is being provided to meet the client's expectations
Experience and Skills:
- Professional Qualification (AAT or equivalent), would be desirable not essential
- Proven bookkeeping experience within a practice environment
- Advanced experience using Excel, Sage 50 and other relevant software
- Numerate and analytical with distinguished verbal and written communication skills
- Evidence of being a dedicated, motivated individual who is capable of changing priorities in a demanding environment
- Strong organisational skills and time management
