About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Talent to join us and lead on a business wide talent initiative. Accountable for establishing the talent pipelines and the sustainability of the Enhancing Management Capability (EMC) programme, you will set the strategy for the talent aspects including how we search, select and retain managers.
Establishing a strong employment brand for Royal Mail in the marketplace, you will use your networking skills to leverage every opportunity to attract talent to Operations. Designing and setting strategy for the search, attraction and assessment standards, you will also set the policy for selection in order to ensure that we set the bar at the appropriate level.
Leading an environment where talent is actively harnessed, shared and optimised, you will manage key relationships with HR Services and external suppliers to ensure the necessary quality standards are met. Going forward you will establish a sustainability plan to ensure the EMC standards migrate into business as usual. Accountable for diversity targets, candidate experience and external employer branding, you will support the Programme Director to establish the overall integrated strategy for EMC.
Please note this is a fixed term contract for an expected period of 18 months. The role will require regular travel to London, and some travel across the UK subject to the demands of the programme.
About you
You will have a track record of creating and implementing management, leadership and executive development initiatives across a large multi-site organisation. With experience of working in a rigorous project management environment and with excellent communication, persuasion and influencing skills, you will have the resilience needed to engage with people at a senior level within the organisation.
Using a collaborative approach across the HR function, you will drive senior development and talent activity in a way that complements the programme activity and makes best use of external supply. Ideally, you'll be degree (or equivalent) educated and with CIPD and some experience of working with unions.
