Shorterm Group are working with a leading Aerospace company in the Gloucester area who are looking for a Logistics manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
Job Description:
*To be the operational lead for the OE Logistics function; encompassing goods receiving, warehousing and distribution to both internal and external Customers.
*To ensure performance of the OE Logistics function in line with all targets relating to SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People)
*To ensure budgetary control and to actively drive process improvements and cost reductions whilst maintaining key identified deliverables in terms of stock availability, product delivery and order fulfilment.
*To ensure the OE Logistics processes are compliant with all relevant regulatory, legislative and procedural requirements and best practices.
Responsibilities:
*Manage a team comprising internal indirect resources and a 3rd party service provider.
*Manage resources effectively to meet the efficiency and cost challenges of the business.
*Ensure performance to all internal and external Customers is in line with key performance indicators relating to process deliverables and inventory accuracy.
*Delivery of parts and consumables on time, in full and in the correct physical presentation to internal production shops, including an Assembly Flow Line & using JIT methodology where appropriate.
*Management of the packing, despatch and transport processes required for a global civil and military Customer base.
*Delivery of parts to the Customer Services Spares Warehouse in line with stock replenishment requirements.
*Monitor and control detailed costs and budgetary planning.
*Monitor and control the OE Logistics load and capacity balance to ensure that resources are appropriately planned and utilised.
*Management of import / export under ITAR, EASA and IPR regulations.
*Define and maintain the Logistics master data within the ERP system.
*Propose and support process, method, tool and cost improvements and deployment within OE Logistics and across the wider business.
*Ensure that HSE disciplines are in place and managed for areas under direct responsibility, including regular completion of General Planned Inspections (GPI) and proactive management of risks.
*Ensure the use of QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control), 5S and Visual Factory methodology to support the continuous improvement plan.
*Monitor compliance with, and seek improvement to, operating procedures through departmental self-audit.
*Maintain departmental procedures in accordance with requirements.
*Employee administration, training and appraisal, including completion of Personal Development Reviews (PDRs) with SMART objectives setting aligned to business strategy.
*Ensure the execution of their mission through close liaison with the SPM, Planning, Production, Finance and Program teams.
Competencies:
*Proven working experience as a Logistics Manager within a production environment.
*Record of successful distribution and logistics management.
*Demonstrable ability to lead and manage resources.
*Proficient in standard Logistics/Supply chain MRP/ERP; SAP knowledge essential.
*Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
*Past experience of working in fast moving dynamic businesses with developing needs.
*Lean sigma trained an advantage.
*Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
*Be able to provide coaching and support to the team in order to deliver the required sustainable performance.
*Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a logistics, supply chain or business discipline.
*Ideally be a member of the Institute of Logistics.
*Knowledge of health, safety and environmental processes and procedures, including risk assessments and management.
*Act as a knowledge expert in their field.
*Fluent English.
