This water utility company based In the Thames Valley is looking for someone to lead the development and executing of the Spring Training and Adoption Strategy and Plan, delivering targeted, engaging, informative and meaningful training across a diverse estate (onshore and offshore, in house and outsourced, front and Back Office, and specialist areas such as (not exhaustive) finance, reporting and marketing), maximising speed to competency

The above must be achieved in full collaboration with the Retail (internal and Partners) Training and Business communities to maximise existing/planned practices, to ensure a consistent and joined-up strategy and plan to BAU training operations, and to handback to the business Spring training collateral

Main accountabilities/outputs

  • To lead the development (and continuous review and enhancement to keep current) of the Spring Training & Adoption Strategy, ensuring alignment to the programme plan, and where appropriate Business Training standards and strategies, definition and agreement of critical success factors for learning outcomes that reflect TW values and behaviours and have Here for customer at the heart
  • To lead the development and execution (and continuous review and enhancement to keep current) of the Spring Training and Adoption Plan maximising speed to competency for our colleagues through a comprehensive plan that covers training and post training support and development
  • Build a multiple skilled Training Team able to fully deploy the Training Strategy and Plan to agreed time, cost and quality parameters, and to continuously evolve to mitigate expected challenges
  • Lead all Spring Training activities, liaising with appropriate Programme and Business leads/stakeholders to coordinate and manage Risks, Assumptions and Dependencies
  • Ensuring strategies and execution techniques (general training and SAP specific) are underpinned by best practice, case studies, and the latest training principles and methodologies, ensuring the Spring approach is supported by firm foundations
  • Manage delivery outcomes to budget, time and within agreed resource levels
  • Ensure all materials are in line with Retail training standards (where appropriate)
  • Maximise existing company and Partner training tools, or where capability gaps exist, work with programme and business stakeholders to agree requirements and identify/recommend solutions
  • Manage the design and development of a coherent framework for planning, delivering and measuring Training success
  • Closely collaborate with the Retail and Partner Training teams to maximise existing/planned practices and to ensure a consistent and joined-up strategy and plan.
  • Agree and execute a plan to hand-back all materials to BAU Training at an agreed point

Skills, qualifications, experience - minimum required

  • Strong previous track record of leading a training function or comparable training workstream within a large programme (ideally within a SAP implementation)
  • Utility (preferably Water) experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - with the ability to deal with individuals at all levels of the company and articulate complex issues in a straightforward manner.
  • Demonstrable experience of defining Training strategy and translating into sustainable and repeatable learning interventions
  • Experience of leading a training function within a programme environment with experience in both training and programmes ways of working/techniques
  • Strong ability to engage, influence and win support of senior managers and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in a Matrix management structure.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Experience of operating in a Project and Programme environment, literate in standards and techniques
  • Strong strategic thinker, Strong planner
  • Understanding of best practice training techniques, methodologies and the latest thinking
  • Exceptional attention to detail with excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or recognised professional qualification from relevant institute/professional body preferred.
