Fixed Term until April 2018

Vista changes lives. We are the leading local charity working with children and adults with sight loss throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Whether someone is newly diagnosed or has lived their whole life with reduced sight, Vista's specialist staff provide a vital lifeline to local people.

You will lead and motivate a team of Information Support Staff in Outpatient Ophthalmology Clinics, Advice and Information Helpline and other Community Based Locations to enable them to deliver a consistent, high quality and effective information support service.  Develop, recruit and lead a volunteer led information service that delivers a consistent, high quality and effective service to people with sight loss in the community including support and supervision of individuals, communicate with Ophthalmologists and hospital based staff, and monitor the prioritisation system to ensure that services are targeted at those in greatest need, in keeping with local authority eligibility criteria and Fair Access to Care Services (FACS).  

You will need to monitor budget expenditure, provide monitoring and statistical information and keep up to date with knowledge about eye health.

We are looking for someone who has an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer qualification or who would be willing to achieve, GCSE English Grade C or equivalent, or Level 3 or Equivalent NVQ/QCF in Advice and Information, experience of dealing with enquires from the general public, gathering & disseminating advice and information, experience of working in a hospital environment would be advantageous .Being able to listen to, understand and respond to the needs of individuals in supporting people with sight loss is important and must have excellent communication skills.

You will be required to work 20 hours per week, flexibly Monday to Friday with the requirement to work occasional weekends and may include Bank Holidays to meet service needs.
