This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the prestigious Bell Teacher Campus. This summer residential teacher development programme is delivered at Homerton College, part of the University of Cambridge. This innovative programme is now in its tenth year and attracts international English language teachers from around the world and offers them the opportunity to study a variety of bespoke English teaching methodology courses combined with a thriving social programme.

We are currently recruiting a Cultural and Social Programme Officer to ensure the effective delivery of the cultural and social programme component of the course.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering the cultural and social components of the teacher training summer school programme to meet customer satisfaction targets

  • Ensure consistent and timely communication on all events, excursions and activities to all participants and staff

  • Ensure professional planning, logistics and payments for activities

  • Manage cultural programme finances

  • Promote and ensure active participation in local excursions, paid trips and other activities

  • Responsible for health, safety and welfare issues relating to the programme activities

  • Putting in place risk assessments for all activities

  • Deal with student issues/emergencies as and when they arise;

  • Act as a sightseeing guide for Cambridge

  • Ensure wealth of information and support materials are available in the course office for participants to explore Cambridge

The programme runs for six weeks beginning on the 30th June 2017 until the 12th August 2017 and we are ideally looking for candidates who are available for the whole period. Please be aware that this role involves weekend working.
 

The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable and committed. You will have previous experience in an events or logistics environment, and have experience of organising cultural, social or sports activities. You must enjoy working in a team environment and have excellent communication and organisation skills. Experience of working with multilingual groups or in an adult education environment would be beneficial.
