Chief Data Office

The Reporting and MI team is part of the IIT CDO function that provides business intelligence for Barclays UK. The team is responsible for the management of organizational processes and systems that acquire, create, organise, distribute and use the information within the business.

Role Purpose
The role holder will manage a portfolio of stakeholders, ensuring that they have the BI necessary to move their business forward. This will require excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to balance the needs of multiple senior stakeholders through regular communication whilst ensuring these are prioritized based on value and alignment to the Business objectives The role holder will work closely with the other IIT MI teams (IMCC, ControlIT) to implement and deliver solutions which maximise all of the technologies available. The role holder must also have a thorough understanding of data and MI tools and infrastructure

Key Accountabilities
The role holder will work with designated stakeholders to produce an aggregated demand portfolio that considers new demand based on alignment to key Business strategies. The role holder will provide creative solutions to address MI requirements, which draw on existing technologies and investigating new alternatives. The role holder must evaluate demand based on value to the business i.e. cost savings or business generation. The role holder will be expected to leverage wider initiatives in IIT. The role holder will support the design, build, test and delivery of key BI solutions to stakeholders working closely with the data partners to ensure that the solution built is fit for purpose. The role holder needs to ensure that detailed analysis of requirements are conducted and signed off by the business to ensure effectiveness, relevance and accuracy. The role holder will conduct regular reviews of BAU portfolio with key stakeholders including maintenance of small /large size change portfolio and enhancements, managing these through with the data teams. The role holder will also agree consolidated priorities to present to leadership team and keep stakeholders engaged in delivery lifecycle. The role holder will be own all communications to stakeholders to ensure all parties have the same transparent and consistent understanding of priorities and status. The role holder will be required to line manage 4 to 7 reports. This includes Personal Development and training. The role holder must be able to interact with all levels within the organisation. This will range from junior staff to Director level. You will be required to present at certain portfolio councils as required. Awareness of innovative management information tools and systems is essential. Governance and compliance policies, standards, and procedures required to fulfil role e.g. data security and records management. Strong analytical skills including ability to provide observations, comment and insight. Wider-thinking and problem solving - identifying and delivering reporting through own initiative. Understanding of change management process.

Person Specification
Experience of analysis and development of data structures, data modelling and reporting solutions. Application of SQL and databases including data transformation with a proven track record of producing reporting solutions. Strong reporting and communication skills whilst working on a number of tasks on a variety of different projects at the same time. Proven ability to build effective internal relationships Database - SQL, Data structures (tables, views, stored procedures, star and snowflake structures), Data Transformation (DTS & SSIS), efficiency, normalisation, Reporting - Cognos 8.4 (Minimum) Report Studio, Framework Manager, Transformer, Mobile (Desirable) UNIX Applications -e.g. ASP.net including Visual Basic (VB) and Web Infrastructure, Qlikview, Tableau, Experience with Big Data tooling such as Hadoop, MongoDB Strong ability to explain advanced data concepts to database developers and architects as well as non-technical end users, and senior executives. Working knowledge of the Jira ticketing software or software providing similar functionality to resolve incidents is would be an advantage. The ideal candidate must be flexible and professional under pressure, have strong interpersonal skills, drive and focus to succeed in a challenging environment. The ability to grasp data, product and business concepts quickly is critical. The right candidate will require a proactive, yet pragmatic approach to solving data/MI issues, focusing on areas of value add/significance to the business. The ideal candidate will contribute positively to the organisational culture of excellence and have the ability to take accountability and operate under their own initiative in a professional and positive manner. The role holder must contribute to knowledge shares across the teams. Proven ability at looking at solutions in unconventional ways. Sees opportunities to innovate and can lead the way. They must own, track and manage their own self-development and personal performance.
