About the Job
Games Workshop is in the midst of a project to replace our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Along with all the other systems Games Workshop has, including warehouse systems, e commerce systems, retail systems, all have databases that provide the data to keep these systems running. These are critical systems and we need to be absolutely sure that the data is always available in a 24/7 environment
Do you want to be part of our fast-paced IT team, are you excited by being an integral participant in maintaining databases at an Enterprise Level in a 24/7 environment
You will be responsible for installations, maintenance plans, backups, support and performance monitoring of a wide range of systems varying from express through to enterprise level versions. This will require you to understand the technical specification of any proposed solution as well as the levels of service required for Games Workshop
On a daily basis you will be required to support and oversee the completion of all backup and maintenance tasks, analysing and troubleshooting issues to determine the best resolution. Proactively ensuring the high availability of database systems, long term stability, as well as playing an important part in planning and designing databases for projects.
You will have the opportunity to experiment with databases and propose improvements and enhancements, whilst being involved in the design, development and production planning of database systems.
We know it's difficult to be keep systems fully updated with the latest upgrades, keeping optimal system performance through carefully planned maintenance strategies, installing new installations to ensure best practice, all whilst providing a high level of support to ensure minimal disruption to the business.
