My client is a specialist manufacturer of modular fabricated products to a worldwide market. They are looking to recruit a Supply Chain Manager covering logistics, stores & warehousing, production planning and procurement.
Primary purpose of the position
*Responsible for planning, directing and co-ordinating efficient and cost-effective logistics services for the business and ownership of the logistics strategy, against an objective of market sector best practice, continuous improvement and customer service/cost optimisation
*To take the lead role in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process including demand, capacity and sales forecasting.
*To work closely with the Sales and Commercial teams across all the Company's Sales Channels to produce an achievable and cost effective Master Production Schedule (MPS) that fulfils customer and operational expectations.
*To develop and enhance site based manufacturing planning processes.
*To work closely with Procurement and Transport to improve their planning processes.

Main responsibilities and duties of the position
*Responsible for developing, documenting and executing a comprehensive logistics and freight forwarding strategic plan which will drive optimal customer service (in-house and external) at the most economical cost
*Drive logistics best practice and operational excellence within the organisation in support of its market objectives
*Preparation, in conjunction with relevant business areas/functions and ownership of annual Logistics budget, and responsible for on-going review of adherence and managing correction of adverse variances
*Will implement strategic initiatives that address the changing business needs of new products and sales channels, focused on continuous cost and service improvement
*Provides guidance, mentoring and career development to Logistics staff and shares expertise and knowledge with other functions to ensure that in the area of Supply Chain Logistics, the business conducts itself in a coherent, professional and "joined up" manner
*Ensures that all appropriate employees are adequately trained and qualified and that all logistics operations are conducted in full legal and SHEQ compliance
*Manages operational and commercial relationships with logistics providers and freight forwarders, including performance review and benchmarking against a suite of appropriate operational and financial KPIs developed and maintained, ensuring that the business remains competitive and leads in its chosen markets.
*To lead the company's Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes and chair all associated meetings.
*To lead the gathering of sales data, analyse trends, and produce accurate sales forecasts in conjunction with our Sales teams.
*To validate the sales forecasts and revise inventory and customer service policies.
*Leading the site based Planners, to assess the Company's ability to meet demand consistently by reviewing available capacity and scheduling shortages.
*To ensure ERP system is fully operational and integrated across the business
*To develop the ERP system in line with industry best practice.
*Tasks to be performed are not limited to this job description. The post holder will be required to take on additional duties within their capabilities as and when workloads demand. The role may change depending on the needs of the business. Training and support will be given in the event of major changes.

Authority and accountability
*To support the Operations Manager manage budgetary responsibility for the Modular business and specifically be responsible for his/her Departmental budget
*Accountable for the quality of all output within their aspect of the organisation.
*To manage and develop the capability of his team, managing succession planning and specialist scarce skills resources.
*Drive change within the culture towards a lean manufacture, process driven environment

Education and training
*Degree calibre or equivalent Logistics industry qualifications/recognition eg CMILT.
*Computer literate, particularly; MS Office, ERP/MRP systems.
*It is expected that the successful candidate will have at least 5 years' experience of leading a Production Planning function in a large manufacturing company.
*Previous experience of a senior operational management or similar role within the supply chain or freight forwarding environment is essential, with skills developed in the industrial, automotive or heavy engineering/project sector particularly advantageous
*Logical thinker and creative problem solver
*Strong commercial skills and experience of managing significant budgets, analysing and addressing variances through objective and short-term task setting
*Excellent analytical skills with ability to quickly grasp key operational constraints and enablers, able to manage through KPIs and other metrics, and with well-developed communication/relationship skills to build and manage productive supplier and internal relationships.
