My client is a specialist manufacturer of modular fabricated products to a worldwide market. They are looking to recruit a Supply Chain Assistant to control the daily procurement processes for sub-contract items and ensure that items meet specifications and are competitively priced and to ensure all sub-contracted items including galvanising are delivered OTIF.
Duties
*To develop and maintain an effective supplier base of approved suppliers for sub contract components and services.
*Contingency plan to ensure multiple options are available to ensure manufacturing is not disrupted by supplier failure.
*Process ERP requirements for demand, obtain quotations, negotiate purchasing details, and set the delivery expectation.
*To review evaluate and monitor quality, cost, and delivery of subcontracted components and services.
*To review evaluate and monitor internal production times and costs versus system standards.
*Expedite purchase orders and factory works orders to ensure that customer delivery expectations are adhered to.
*To ensure purchase requisitions follow the correct authorisation process, meet specifications, meet legal and ethical requirements, and are produced, maintained, and communicated to the supplier.
*Process purchase requisitions in ERP
*To review make / buy decisions in conjunction with procurement team and decide the most cost-effective method of supply.
*Support wider operational team in achieving business objectives
*Provide cover for the Supply Chain Co-Ordinator in times of holidays and absence.
*Support the Supply Chain Co-Ordinator in ensuring a robust production plan is issued.
*Play an active part in company SHEQ initiatives.
*Work with the SHEQ department to ensure supplier quality is to the standards expected
*Assist in developing the supplier performance and management programme.
Experience
*Minimum of 5 years in a purchasing function ideally in a manufacturing environment.
*Experience in managing sub-contractors.
*Experience in manufacturing or assembly.
*Extensive ERP knowledge (Infor background advantageous) including in depth knowledge of MRP/MPS systems.
*Understanding of supplier management and procurement methodologies.
*An ability to read technical drawings desirable .
*Computer literacy in Microsoft packages essential.
*A degree in a business or engineering related discipline desirable.
