<p>Full-Time Maintenance Assistant</p> <p>39 hours per week</p> <p>£8.75 per hour</p> <p>retailTRUST is the National Charity that exists to improve the wellbeing of all involved in retail. Our support centres not only assist those in the sector but also serves the local and wider communities. Our cottageHOMES services provide high quality supported living and extra-care accommodation for those retired from service to retail.&nbsp;</p> <p>We are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join us at our Derby estate. Working under the direction of the Property and Building Services Manager and Estate Manage, the Maintenance Assistant will ensure that excellent standards of maintenance, repairs and property management are maintained at all times.</p> <p>This includes:</p> <ul> <li>Ensuring the grounds and maintenance programme is kept up to date</li> <li>Undertaking general repairs and own trade as directed and required.</li> <li>Liaising with contractors.</li> <li>Ensuring that all work and activities adhere to the retailTRUST’s Health &amp; Safety practices. Carrying out required Health &amp; Safety checks, and bringing to the attention of the Property and Building Services Manager any matters that require attention.</li> <li>Assisting with high cleaning of walls, ceilings, extractor hoods…, using ladders and steps.</li> <li>Promoting positive working relationships between all departments, working in a collaborative and co-operative manner to ensure that the highest care standards are maintained at all times.</li> </ul> <p>The post holder will be expected to take part in the out-of-hours on-call rota as required. Being available for emergency call out duties to carry out or assist with immediate repairs or other emergencies.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The post holder must have a full driving licence.</p> <p>The ideal individual will:</p> <ul> <li>have recent experience and a formal qualification in an acknowledged trade – a plumbing qualification is desirable, but not essential</li> <li>will be able to demonstrate general DIY skills and Health &amp; Safety knowledge</li> <li>will have an understanding for the needs and concerns of older people.</li> <li>will have an interest towards property and maintenance issues in general, in relation to trade and in relation to health and safety procedures and safe working practices.&nbsp;</li> <li>will enjoy working as part of a team, but must be capable of working independently and able to use their own initiative.&nbsp;</li> </ul>
