Logistics Team Leader

My client is a specialist manufacturer of modular fabricated products to a worldwide market. They are looking to recruit a Logistics Team Leader to manage all inbound and outbound freight and shipping requirements for the company whose products are shipped internationally. You will be controlling the packing and dispatch process including the issuing of an achievable stockyard plan for inbound and outbound materials. He will be managing the production of packing and loading documentation.
Duties:
*Managing freight and shipping requirements for all contract and non-contract movements domestically and abroad, including carrier sourcing, selection and management to improve overall logistics costs
*Focus strongly on internal customer service levels to ensure that a strong relationship is developed with the Sales & Commercial teams to promote a one Mabey environment.
*Be a key component in the commercial bid process so that freight rates and any associated concerns are highlighted at an early stage.
*To ensure that goods are packed and loaded to fulfil customer and operational expectations.
*To ensure that all goods are packed and loaded in accordance with company SHEQ policies.
*To ensure that regular stock control is maintained including stock rotation for standard products.
*To ensure that goods are stored securely and safely in conditions that are appropriate for the product.
*To provide support to the Supply Chain Coordinator to highlight shortage issues so as to prevent any interruption of supply to customers.
*To provide packing and loading information including labels and packing specifications.
*To develop with the Supply Chain Manager a Logistics Strategy to ensure best practice is fostered and developed which will enable team members to realise their potential.
*To ensure effective communication within the Logistics team to develop a one team approach to improve overall team performance.
*To encourage the active participation of all Logistic team members in improvement activities, development, implementation, and achievement of all key performance targets.
*Assist the Supply Chain Manager in identifying cost down initiatives on external freight costs and internal processes to ensure business competitiveness.
*To develop operational and commercial relationships with logistics providers and freight forwarders.
*Responsible for the communication and the provision of timely information as required to internal and external customers, Service delivery requirements must be to the highest standards
*To drive process improvements and develop new ways of working where appropriate to improve efficiency.
*Developing a multi-skilled team to ensure flexibility is maximised which will benefit the business in managing workloads during periods of high activity.
*Line management of Logistics Coordinators to ensure documentation, record keeping and measurement processes are adhered to including despatch plans, product despatch/delivery notes, export documentation and freight cost control.
*To ensure that processes are in place and maintained to check suitability of transport and load security in accordance with company procedure
