Our client specialises in the manufacture and distribution of decorative lighting. They sell products to worldwide customers in more than 60 countries. They have their own sales distribution operations in 3 countries, managing more than 17,000 square metres, (185,000 square feet) of warehousing and production space and a team of more than 100 committed staff. 

Main Role Outlined

  • You will be required to assist in the management of supplier relationships from creation of order through to processing of invoices. 
  • The right candidate must be able to work well with timescales, targets and ensure quality. 
  • A focussed individual is required who will report to the senior buyer. This role is fundamental to the smooth running of the department and the information provided to customers.

This role would suit a well organised, efficient communicator with experience in global supply chain management and purchasing. 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Analysis and balancing of supply / demand.
  • Management of suppliers to ensure all material is delivered on time in full in line with the production demands.
  • Management of optimum inventory levels to achieve business plans and objectives.
  • Material management data accuracy.

MAIN TASKS

  • Raise Purchase Orders/ Quotes based on product demand and supplier lead times. Managing the process from order creation, supplier confirmation, price agreement and order lead times.
  • Provide accurate product information to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the Elstead Quality Control team in China and the UK to ensure excellent product quality is delivered at all times meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  • ‘Build a strong working relationship with the Accounts department ensuring supplier invoices fall in line with contractual pricing & payment are processed in a timely manner according to payment T’s & C’s’.
  • Assist in the management of order levels and maximum and minimum stocks, helping to ensure levels always meet company expectations.
  • Manage supplier orders for components and spares as required, playing a leading role in the effort to reduce reject stock levels.
  • Support the Design Team in sample requirements & fulfilment of deliveries in line with necessary requirements
  • Directly support & communicate with the Sales Team regularly to ensure customer requirements are met in line with agreed lead times
  • Weekly management of supplier Order Book  confirming ETD’s & quantities required & agreed with Suppliers
  • Work in close relationship with the Logistics team to ensure supplier ETD’s are met & consolidated efficiently allowing for the best freight price without impacting on the delivery & customer commitment

Experience

  • Relevant experience of working within tight and challenging deadlines.
  • Communicating with suppliers at a senior level.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience of working to/towards ISO Quality Management standards
  • Risk assessment and contingency planning
  • Familiar with Supply Chain and Materials management.

Skills

  • Excellent communication & escalation skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Ability to manage own work
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office (In particular Excel)
  • SAP R3/SAGE or equivalent MRP software working knowledge
