Metro Operations Director - Midland Metro Limited
Contract: Full time, 2 year fixed term contract
Salary: Circa £95k plus benefits
Location: Birmingham

The company is comprised of the twelve local authorities and three Local Enterprise Partnerships working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and our locally elected politicians, who know this region best. Individual councils will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

The role requires an individual who will provide leadership and direction in the mobilisation of the Midland Metro Limited and the transfer of operation and maintenance services from Altram / Travel Midland Metro into the new business. The postholder will ensure services are delivered in accordance with the business plan and Health, Safety and Environmental targets are met by the Operations Directorate.

The successful applicant will drive substantial transformation of the business and play a significant part in developing and implementing the operating and maintenance strategies that will support this.

Key areas of expertise required are:
* Extensive knowledge of Light Rail health, safety and environmental management, operations, maintenance practices
* Experience of leading a light rail / rail business through periods of growth and change
* Extensive knowledge of the statutory regime within which tramways operate and experience in delivery of the functions of a Transport Undertaker and Infrastructure Manager and of leading negotiations with statutory and regulatory bodies
* Experience in the management of industrial relations within a transport operations environment
* Experience in the definition and management of safety critical and operational critical assets and in management of asset renewal / replacement programmes
* Experienced in the delivery of major projects (rollingstock, systems, depots, extensions) from an operational perspective
* Behavioural / Collaboration knowledge
* Financial performance and budget control
