It is large site comprising a large, well supported bar, and an equally large lounge/function room at the rear of the pub. The pub is situated in the middle of a large housing estate with great footfall. It currently trades as a wet-led pub with pool and darts facilities.
The Foaming Tankard needs a new lease of life and Admiral are prepared to invest in the pub to create a pub/bar which fits the gap in the pub sector we have identified. The Foaming Tankard benefits from a well-used bar area, which was recently redecorated and new fixed seating. The lounge isn't used on a regular basis, but is used by the local community for events and music events as it's a great space and there are few pubs in the area with these facilities.

The Foaming Tankard is currently trading as a wet-led pub with the potential to develop the drink offer. The pub needs a wide range of drinks, including wines and cask ales, and even a bottled craft ale-range to really stand it apart from the competition. Although the pub doesn't currently have a food offer, the pub does have a catering kitchen and there's certainly scope to start using the kitchen again, perhaps putting on a diverse food offering to match the cultural mix in the surrounding area.
With the right operator, investment will be made, including an external decoration with details such as hanging baskets and a signage scheme. This will declare that the pub is "new" and not the old boozer it is currently seen as. The Foaming Tankard also needs to build a strong on-line presence with great social media interaction with the immediate area and start getting people back into this pub and making use of all the trading areas.
It doesn't matter if you're an experienced operator or whether the Foaming Tankard would be your first venture into the pub sector, it's your passion, drive and vision we're looking for. We want someone who's done some research into the area and can tell us what they think the area needs by way of a pub offering. Someone who can come to us and say - I know what we should do to the pub and more importantly what you will do by way of being the tenant. We're really keen to talk to people about their ideas for our pubs rather than us dictating how our pubs should be!

The Foaming Tankard is a two-room operation with the serving bar linking both rooms. The bar is a large well decorated area with a pool table being central to what goes on in the room. The lounge/function room is a good size room with a stage for bands and discos, but is in need of some care and attention and with the right operator this is an area we are keen to develop as it has the potential to be an area for diners, but also a warm comfortable room for people to relax in. The ladies and gents toilets are situated between both rooms as is access to the living accommodation. The catering kitchen is situated between the bar and the lounge providing easy access for food to customers no matter which room they choose to eat in. Unfortunately there is no "outside" drinking area at the Foaming Tankard at present, but with the right operator we would look to seek a pavement license to enable customers to drink outside the front of the pub whilst watching the world go by.
