MENTAL HEALTH WORKER – LINCOLN

Salary £22,349 pro rota – 22.5 hours per week (£13,409)

(Either 3 full days or 5 mornings)

Fixed Term Contract until September 2017 but highly likely to be renewed.

Our client, a leading charity, are seeking an experienced Mental Health Worker to join their team in Lincoln on a fixed term contract, until September 2017 (highly likely to be renewed). Your main duties will be to engage with individuals who are homeless and accessing the Nomad Trust's Night Shelter. In addition you will periodically support individuals who are sleeping rough within the city of Lincoln and engage with other organisations to access the correct help and support for these people.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Mental Health Qualification preferred, although relevant experience will be considered
  • Full DBS check
  • A comprehensive understanding of working with people with mental health needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Endless patience, a good sense of humour and a lively personality
  • Be sympathetic to Christian Aims and purposes of the charity

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with individuals to assess their personal support needs and support them to access other relevant services
  • Complete individual risk assessments
  • Prepare support plans as required
  • To keep statistical data and comprehensive support records and to provide information for the quarterly reports to LFPT and the Board of Directors
  • To keep up to date with current legislation pertaining to mental health and health and social care
  • To organise group sessions for service users in health related topics
  • To liaise regularly with staff at Nomad as well as at the P3 rough sleeper service to meet the needs of the service users
  • To participate in assessments of individuals ready to move on to more long term accommodation
  • To assist in the training of student placements
  • To attend meetings as requested and participate in regular supervisions
  • To adhere to the YMCA's policies and ethos
  • To ensure that agreed health and safety policies are understood and compiled with
  • To keep up to date with relevant professional practice
  • To observe the requirements of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, the Mental Health act 1983 and the Children's Act
  • To comply with the Data Protection Act 1984, Access to Medical Records Act 1990 and the Human Rights Act 1998
  • To have an understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equal opportunities
  • To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably required within the scope of the post
