New opportunity not to be missed! Lancaster City Council has a unique opportunity available for a Scheme Manager to join the Council Housing Team. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £16,303 - £18,070 per annum which may be subject to change.

Working in the Lancaster District, which includes an enviable and diverse mix of historic city, seaside town, extensive rural areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our Scheme Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of a City Council Sheltered Housing Scheme in the Lancaster and Morecambe district.

What do we look for in a Scheme Manager?

All the sheltered housing units are linked by intercom to the New Progress Lifeline service outside the Scheme Manager’s working hours.

You must be capable of demonstrating a sincere commitment to the care of the elderly, possess good organisational and social skills and be of a calm, patient disposition with the ability to respond quickly and efficiently in an emergency situation, whilst under pressure.

You will need to have both good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work well with other professionals and all members of the public.

An understanding of community care and the ability to deal with any situation, as and when it arises, in an efficient and effective way, is essential. An understanding of housing issues and welfare benefits would be an advantage.

The Scheme Manager will be required to hold a full, current UK Driving Licence and access to a car for work use. This is required due to the need to travel back and forth between schemes on a daily basis as you may be required to attend different sites in cases of emergencies.

The hours of work will be 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. You will be based at Shakespeare Road scheme, however there may be requirements to work at one or more of the other schemes based in the area. When required, you may be expected to provide cover for other Lancaster City Council sheltered housing schemes, for periods of sickness and holidays.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We offer a fantastic benefits package!

We offer 26 days annual leave rising to 31 days on completion of 5 years service, access to the local government pension scheme, cycle scheme, childcare vouchers and discounted leisure centre membership. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme.
