THE ROLE
Within this position you will become an integral part of the FinancialForce Finance team. This Accounting Specialist role for Payroll and Benefits will provide support to the business in relation to accounting, payroll and benefits, working in a fast paced environment.
We use ADP, an outsourced payroll service, in the UK and in Spain. We also manage a UK company pension via auto-enrolment supported by Hargreaves Lansdown.
We are looking for an accounting specialist who is happy to manage payroll with ADP and will make sure that our people get paid on the right date and receive the correct amount of money and can support the accounting entries each month.
You will work as part of the company's finance team, whilst also working closely with the employee success team. In particular ensuring new starters are dealt with and staff benefits are managed.
You will be working to strict payment deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the ADP to ensure payroll is provisioned
- Working with Hargreaves Landsdown to ensure pensions are provisioned
- Checking employees inputs and outputs to payroll
- Checking payroll gross to net
- Ensuring electronic transfer to staff, HMRC and pension are paid appropriately
- Checking deductions of tax and national insurance payments
- Processing holiday, sick, maternity pay and expenses
- Calculating overtime, commissions and pay increases as required
- Answering staff queries about pay slips, P45s and other forms
- Completing payroll reconciliations and payroll journals within the ledgers
You will have an understanding of the legislation and rules in areas such as tax payment and exemption.
You would also be offering advice on which forms need to be used in different situations. For instance, claiming maternity pay or a tax refund.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Confidence in working with numbers; Maths GCSE (A-C or equivalent)
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office
- A flexible approach to your work as the business continues to grow
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Member of Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), with payroll experience or CIPP National Payroll Certificates
- IAB Certificate and Diploma in Payroll or Computerised Payroll
- Practitioner Certificate in Payroll, Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Payroll and Diploma in Payroll
- Foundation Degree in Payroll Management
- International payroll experience
