Job title: Commercial Administrator

Location: Chawston, Bedfordshire

Salary: £18,000-£20,000 dependant on experience

The Company

Our client is a market leader in the niche area of civil engineering within the water industry. Their company's success can be attributed to their extensive knowledge and experience gained from working closely with their clients to deliver a range of cost-effective engineering solutions including the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of water company reservoirs, and associated assets along with the new construction of new assets to values up to £2m.

The day-to-day duties

  • Process sub contract payments, internal labour orders and payment allocations, using the Sage accounting system on a monthly basis
  • Assist the Commercial Manager with job cost control, quotes and produce budgets to ensure client expectations are met, using Sage Construct
  • Assist with monthly valuations and final account settlements including payment recovery to ensure the business receives its cash from customers on a timely basis.
  • Work closely within delivery teams concerning hire and off-hire plant and equipment
  • Maintain an efficient filing system to control how data is stored and retrieved
  • Collate and produce commercial performance data on behalf of the Accounting team for review by the Directors in a timely fashion.
  • Create and run reports on behalf of the Commercial Manager, in preparation for client meetings
  • Maintain detailed records and calculations to provide audit trail of applications for payment
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Site Agents to resolve submission queries and issues
  • Follow the Stonbury 10 Commandments at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Strong IT skills especially MS Word and Excel.
  • Able to work alone own and using own initiative to solve problems and complete daily tasks
  • A good communicator, able to deal confidently with a variety of people face-to- face, in writing and on the telephone
  • Display a positive attitude and be committed to going above and beyond when necessary.
  • Able to work flexibly in line with business requirements.
  • Proven planning and organisation skills with ability the to prioritise workloads
  • Previous experience specifically gained within the construction industry
  • Understanding of Sage 200 accounts
  • Knowledge of Sage Construct (EQUE 2 Construction)
