It's an exciting time to be joining the team at Acorns. There's much to celebrate and give thanks for as we look towards our 30th Anniversary next year but without our people and our amazing supporters we couldn't be there for the children and families we care for. There's still so much more we need to do and you can be part of our story.

Are you tenacious and results driven? Are you passionate about engaging with supporters and volunteers to help us meet our mission to improve the quality of life for all those affected by life limiting or life threatening conditions?

The children and young people who come to Acorns all have serious and complex life limiting or life threatening conditions. We offer care and support services to suit each individual family's needs and do whatever we can to help them and their child. We firmly believe that no family should go through this alone, so as a fundraising team we must raise significant funds to ensure we are there for each and every one of them. This is why we need someone like you to join our community fundraising team and inspire the local community to join us in our vision.

About the role

A new role reporting to the Major Gifts Manager, you will deliver agreed budgets, targets and income through the development of a programme of Trust grant applications and support Major Gift fundraising. You will prepare applications to Trusts for funding in support of Acorns targets and prepare reports on the impact of successful applications. You will research new Trust and major donor prospects and organise enlistment, cultivation and stewardship events to engage Trusts and major donors and build relationships. Working closely with the wider Acorns staff team, you will develop a new portfolio of funding projects for Trusts and major donors.

About you

Your ability to write compelling funding applications and cases for support will be a key strength along with your ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You are analytical, and take an evidence based, structured approach to performing tasks. You are planned and able to organise your own work with limited supervision to achieve deadlines for multiple tasks and with experience of and resilience to meeting targets. It is essential you have a good understanding of the principles of supporter care and the measures that are used to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. It is essential you work effectively within and across teams to assist with the delivery of objectives.
