THE ROLE: Digital Lead - Digital Lead - Content Design and Engagement, Luton, Bedfordshire

The overall aim for the position is to lead the content design of our digital services with a focus on developing user friendly content across our digital estate, developing and embedding our digital content guidelines and driving the take up and engagement (through your digital marketing knowledge) of services being delivered in faster, smarter and better ways.

You will be responsible for commissioning, writing, editing and publishing digital content across our digital estate managing relationships with subject matter experts to make sure content is accurate while choosing the best format for displaying information to the user.

You will have experience of writing for the web, with proven ability of creating content that is accessible and usable and will have strong communication skills.

You will be a champion for the smart use of digital technology and service redesign thinking across the council ensuring our digital services are user friendly, accurate, consistent and up to date and focused on our users needs (internal, public, business and other stakeholders).

Accountable for choosing the best format for displaying information to the user
• Identify the gaps and get them developed either by building them yourself within the tools provided or commissioning them via third party providers.
monitoring the performance of content and functionality to understand user behaviours and feedback
• To inform the continuous improvement of out digital products
being at ease working in an agile environment with rapidly changing deadlines, workloads and goals
• Work closely with the customer services and the business to ensure the user experience and customer journeys for customers accessing our services digitally
• Develop, document, maintain and champion the council's digital standards and broader digital governance framework, ensuring our digital services are managed and developed as a key corporate strategic asset for our customers
• Act as product owner for a number of components within our digital estate to ensure we get best value out of the product or platform across the business
• Champion the role of digital as a tool to support the transformation of service delivery across all council services, encouraging staff to recognise their role and responsibilities in bringing their subject matter expertise together with digital
• Provide expert guidance and support to colleagues across the council and its technology partners in respect of digital services delivery/transformation.
• Putting the voice of the customer, user's needs, usability and quality at the heart of digital service delivery.

KEY CRITERIA- Digital Lead - Digital Lead - Content Design and Engagement, Luton, Bedfordshire
ESSENTIAL

In depth experience of working within a large scale complex digital services/web operations environment
In-depth web site administrative and maintenance experience, including the expert use of web content management systems (CMS) and web/digital system administration and configuration in a commercial/public sector setting.
Experience of managing user testing and monitoring and reporting functionality and usability of digital services
Demonstrable Digital literacy skills, including; content design, production and management, digital marketing, social media, web metric analysis, user research, prototyping, user acceptance testing, customer journey mapping, writing for the web, image optimization, web platform administration and configuration
Experience with the delivery of affective Digital Marketing in respect of driving the take up and engagement of digital services
Working knowledge of coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery in the context of day to day web content management, administration and configuration and user interface design.
Extensive experience of developing and monitoring (e.g. Google analytics) user friendly engaging content. Including the design and layout of page templates user interface design patterns, standard user-centred design methodologies and recognised best practice.
Able to use online forms software to design and create web forms which help re-engineer business processes and improver user experience.

The postholder will need to embrace agile working, which will include regular hot desking and working from home.

The 24/7 nature of the web and the services the council provides will require to flexible approach to working and available to work occasionally (approximately four times a month) out of normal office hours in order to provide web support for technology upgrades or service delivery needs, including; major events, emergency planning and public relations activity

DESIRABLE

Graduate level qualification or equivalent verifiable experience and training
A project management qualification or accreditation
