Production Manager (Electronic assembly & Test)
The Production Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the Assembly team, for managing and driving the effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing operation to the company's standards, ensuring on time delivery and a focus on exceeding customer expectations. Responsibilities will include the evolution of departmental strategy, fixing goals and objectives, budgetary and resource management and driving forward continuous improvement and lean initiatives to further enhance business performance.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Engineer, with experience of delivering sustainable results in an assembly manufacturing environment. The candidate will be able to demonstrate ability to drive results and will possess a track record of developing and empowering teams and unifying employees. Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing and a working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems is required.
Communicating with all other departments, including sales, Quality and Engineering will be critical to achieving success. They will manage Production by prioritizing the workload between Assembly, test and finished goods departments, whilst looking to incorporate LEAN principle to improve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Department resource management/Planning and assigning work to the production workforce to ensure OTD is achieved
Set and deliver departmental strategy, goals & objectives
Customer satisfaction - ensure department maintains focus in meeting and exceeding customer expectations (including OTD, Quality, issue investigation & resolution and customer responsiveness
Lean - lead and develop a strategy to deploy appropriate LEAN initiatives to enhance business operation and drive continuous improvements
Department Metrics - maintain the development of key metrics
Continuously initiating and delivering improvements on efficiency, quality and productivity
Focus ownership upon driving site Cost reduction initiatives
Staff development through effective training and development plans to enable effective departmental succession and support.
Training employees to enable total flexibility within the workforce
Maintaining a safe and efficient working environment for all staff.
Authority for hiring, termination, discipline, and performance management
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Engineering or similar relevant qualification.
Attainments
Proven ability to drive results in a matrixed organization by developing and empowering teams and unifying employees
Green/black belt with experience in deploying lean techniques
Excellent understanding of Production, Managing and assembly processes.
Delivering sustainable results within a manufacturing environment
Proven continuous improvement
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
Good problem solving skills
Sound analytical skills
Able to prioritise workloads
