My well-established engineering client based close to Wokingham are looking to recruit an Application Engineer on a permanent basis. The Application Engineer is required to use the in-house 5 Axis CNC milling machine to undertake customer trials and demonstrations, along with project / R&D work. They will also be liaising with the technical team and sales engineers, and methodically record all data.
The Application Engineer will be responsible for undertaking cutting trials for customers and R&D project work, recording all data and delivering accurate technical recommendations. The objective is to demonstrate to clients how to get the best from the tools, and to win new business.
Responsibilities:
* Follow Company procedures to run the in-house 5 axis CNC milling machine to undertake customer trials, demonstrations and projects.
* Help to develop new tools and processes including R&D work.
* Create and manage tool benchmark tests and record results in a presentable format.
* Use CAD / CAM to create CNC programs.
* Develop knowledge of tool design to manufacturing process.
* Liaise with Technical & Manufacturing to check priority of work and goals.
* Liaise with Sales Engineers and customers on a project basis.
* Be involved with new technology and constant upgrading of systems/processes.
* To work off site with customers and partners if required.
* Assist with demonstrations and off site exhibitions if required.
* Keep the demo room in a presentable condition at all times.
* Undertake application and product Training when required.
Skills & Experience:
* Computer literate: Able to use Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) to record and look up data.
* Engineering Apprentice trained or experience of CNC milling essential (e.g. Heidenhain / Fanuc etc.).
* CAD/CAM knowledge or experience essential (Delcam / Edgecam of benefit).
* Ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised.
* Ability to verbally converse professionally and confidentially to all levels of the Management structure, employees and customers.
* Flexibility to work on customer sites or other locations outside of HQ.
* Must be proactive and optimistic in their outlook.
* An awareness of health and safety regulations relevant to the company and industry.
An excellent salary of GBP38-40k is on offer for the right candidate. Hours of work are 09.00 -17.00 Monday to Friday.
