Solicitor (Serious Personal Injury)
Role Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced Solicitor with a proven track record in business development to work in our Manchester Office to develop a practice specialising in serious claimant injury personal injury claims with particular emphasis on life changing injuries. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with marketing, business development and fee earning.
Key Responsibilities:
*Assist the head of department in co-ordinating the work within the team
*Maintain, manage and develop existing relationships within the team and department, both internal and external
*Conduct regular case reviews and fee earner reviews to ensure compliance with Lexcel and other in-house protocols; and ensure that the highest standards of client care are maintained at all times
*Ensure all statutory and compliance obligations are met
*Developing referrals from third party referrers using our established strong relationships and actively seeking and forging new relationships
*Develop local business
*Participation in the development, marketing and success of the Serious Injury team, to include developing the website business
*Detailed knowledge of Serious Personal Injury work, including all procedural, advocacy and practical skills
*To ensure that core competency requirements are maintained and certified
*To conduct a caseload of matters on behalf of clients as directed and in accordance with the Firm's file management and supervisory policy
*To maintain a diary and bring up entries in accordance with the firm procedures
*To work with a case management system, databases and normal office IT systems, including the firm's HR, L&D and recruitment tools
*Detailed knowledge of relevant Court forms and procedures
*Compliance with the firms Money Laundering Procedures
*Compliance with the Data Protection Act
Experience / Knowledge / Qualifications
*5 years' post qualification experience of running a Serious Injury caseload
*An ability to lead and manage a team of fee earners and support staff in a sensitive, professional and competent way
*A friendly and co-operative approach to clients and colleagues/department members
*Strong business development skills
*Strong marketing skills
*Good knowledge and understanding of Serious Injury work
*Excellent IT skills
*Good knowledge and understanding of procedures and protocol.
*Good practical skills, including proven negotiation skills
*Good personal organisation and ability to adhere to strict time limits.
*Strong interpersonal skills
*The ability to deal with individuals from all walks of life
*The ability to prioritise work when necessary
*The ability to provide the highest standards of client care
