My client develop an innovative range of medical technology for real time monitoring of vital signs, they are engaged with a global base of existing and potential customers across a range of commercial and governmental sectors.
To ensure continued growth, diversification and innovation they are seeking to appoint a CTO to develop their team of technologists specialising in hardware, software and sensor design.
With a background in medical technology you will be the thought-leader in the future development of the technology roadmap aligned to emergent technologies and the direction of the market. Ideally with experience of development to medical standards FDA/ISO 13485 Council Directive 93/42/EEC Annexe II.
We require an innovative and driven technology leader with the ability to develop strong, cogent technology business cases and with the demonstrable skills to drive the product development through a team with conflicting pressures and priorities
Position Summary for Chief Technical Officer - Wearable Technology

Are you interested in the role of wearable technology in industry? Do you have experience with both sensor and systems development? If so, my client is looking for a CTO (Chief Technology Officer) to join its management team & lead a growing team of developers in helping to achieve the product and business vision. The ideal candidate will have a good foundation in both hardware and software development and will have a creative, problem solving mind set. If you have a hands on approach to technical development and the ambition and drive necessary to fulfil the obligations of this challenging role, we want to meet you.
Responsibilities for Chief Technical Officer - Wearable Technology, will include:
*Lead and develop a world class technology team
*Create a technical strategy, aligned with product strategy
*Provide technical direction and oversee all aspects of system design and development
*Organise and manage R&D projects
*Be responsible for adherence to quality standards by the development team
*Formalise and refine development and related processes
*Provide thought leadership within the technology community
*Work closely with the product management team to deliver product requirements for internal and external customer use
*Help to anticipate, capitalise on and possibly drive changes in the market
Essential Requirements for the Chief Technical Officer - Wearable Technology:
*Strong technical and people management skills
*Experience of working in a senior technical role with both hardware and software products in rapidly growing high tech companies, balancing and effectively prioritising multiple projects at any given time
*Experience working with medical devices, sensor technologies and/or biomedical engineering background
*Demonstrated ability to interpret technology trends as a foundation for technology roadmaps
*Ability to travel internationally as per business requirements
*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
*Experience of managing multi-disciplinary development teams
Desirable Requirements for the Chief Technical Officer - Wearable Technology:
*Experience of design and development to medical standards FDA/ISO 13485 Council Directive 93/42/EEC Annexe II, Section 3.2
*Experience of managing an IP portfolio, including writing and filing new patents
*Whilst not essential proven experience of working on Intrinsically safe & ATEX approved development projects & products is desirable
