Our client is a manufacturer of Gaskets, Plastic injection mouldings and Rubber mouldings, supplying a range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, agriculture and communication & defence. The business has benefitted from considerable investment and is well positioned for growth. As part of its continual drive for improvement, the company is seeking a talented and driven engineering professional with an aptitude for problem solving and process improvement. The individual will have the ability and motivation to continuously improve business activities.
The Role:
As a Process Engineer you will be providing processing support to clients existing production and quality teams. Working to automotive industry standards, using analysis tools such as DOE's (minitab), Control Plans, 8D's, PFMEA's, and SPC, you will be tasked to provide leadership to the team seeking to improve processing control at part number level and above.
As well as your processing knowledge our client seeks to imbed within their company a lean manufacturing and 5S culture. Working with existing Six Sigma Yellow/Green and Black belts to identify continuous improvement opportunities and deliver to agreed targets.
- As a Process Engineer you will be responsible for the following:-
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide materials processing experience to troubleshoot production processing problems in the injection moulding/gasket facilities
- Identify process optimisation through troubleshooting and data analysis
- Identify high level process optimisation opportunities within the manufacturing cell
- Use of contact and non-contact CMM equipment
- Identify improvement projects focusing on reducing waste and cost
- Understand and improve current plant and capacity availabilities
- Manage change through teamwork and Continuous Improvement
- Foreign Travel..Attend Tool trials and sign offs at Suppliers as required
- Train existing machine setters to a standard that delivers required efficiency
- Liaise with customers and suppliers relating to processing issues
Skills:
- Knowledge of plastic injection mould process
- Thorough understanding of injection mould machines and ancillary equipment
- Lean Manufacturing skills. Ability to train others
- Ability to work under pressure in an automotive manufacturing skills base
- Leadership, Team building, Communications and Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate the efficiencies and savings incurred through direct process optimisation
- Knowledge of mould tool design to include G.A.'s and mould flow analysis
- TS16949 knowledge
