Job Role:

The Process Engineer will manage and run the continuous improvement activities looking at cost reduction and improved product consistency for the company. The role's main task is to reduce the manufacturing cost of the products supplied by the company.

Reporting to the Engineering and Technology Manager, the Process Engineer will ensure all projects (including Capex and PRIMO) are completed and targets met in the time agreed. This role will include hands-on elements to ensure all goals are achieved.

  • To manage the continuous improvement projects and be the 1st point of contact when issues or roadblocks arise. This is to include the implementation of Capex, PRIMO and ATS activities
  • Report monthly scrap stats to GM and SMT
  • To build and develop knowledge of the manufacturing of ceramic cores to support appropriate process improvements.
  • To be an able to perform Data Analysis (for example yield reports, CMM data etc) and use this data to design experiments and trials with the goal of meeting agreed standards for products (for example Gross Margin %)
  • To follow the site Trial, Project Management and Change Management systems
  • To be competent using the Company's ERP systems (e.g. IFS / CRM) including, but not exclusively, the following: Product costing, Product Routing, Contract Review Process, Purchase Ordering
  • To effectively use root cause analysis techniques during investigations and projects
  • To communicate and coordinate with production to ensure trials are completed to plan, to allow timely completion of projects.
  • To provide clear and concise feedback to all stakeholders (customers and internal) on project status and where necessary communicate deviations from project plans.
  • To be able to chair project meetings with both customers and internal stakeholders, including visits to customer premises when required.
  • To be a hands on Engineer who, when required, is capable of running trials unaided.
  • To compile clear and concise reports on projects, including executive summaries for the GM and SMT.
  • To maintain a logical and robust filing system (both electronic and hardcopy) to allow easy and quick access to relevant information.
  • To maintain a clean, organised working environment which confirms with the relevant EH&S requirements.
  • To be committed to the Group-wide ethics and compliance programme, RBP; ensuring a common approach to doing business the right way and adhering at all times to the core elements of the programme - values, policies/guidance, training/education and compliance risk assessment.
  • To perform any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.

The Candidate:

  • Degree in an Engineering Discipline or at least 5 years process / CI experience essential.
  • Lean Six Sigma (minimum of Green Belt) or a minimum of 3 years' experience in an engineering function in manufacturing environment desirable.
  • PC literate (with expertise in MS Word, Excel and Minitab) essential.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Ceramic Core Products, investment casting, injection moulding beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills that focus on simplicity and clarity of presentation, both written and oral essential.
  • Attention to detail and an ability to deliver to the highest standard essential.
  • High energy and an ability to demonstrate resilience in achieving goals/targets essential.
  • Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to work with a diverse team essential.
