Our client is a large, and growing, specialist land-based College, with centres throughout Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Tees Valley.

They now have an opportunity available for a 3rd Line Information Technology Technician to join them to provide technical hardware and software support for staff and students on a Microsoft Windows based network infrastructure.

Providing support for relevant equipment, hardware, software, related information systems and services to staff and students of the College, you will help academic staff maximise the use of IT systems and networks in the support of curriculum delivery and student learning and assist with the installation and implementation of equipment, hardware and software.

Assisting in the maintenance of correct procedures ensuring that all equipment, hardware, software, related information systems and services are properly controlled and registered, you will liaise with all other sections within the College and outside suppliers and assist in the provision, maintenance and undertaking of contingency plans and capacity management. You must also ensure due diligence is given to security and backup procedures associated equipment, hardware, software, information systems, data, services and locations.

With a HND in a computing discipline and significant experience in supporting network infrastructure (switches, routers, wireless access – HP & Cisco) and of supporting a Microsoft Windows Server networked environment, you must be familiar with supporting mission critical equipment and have experience of remote access technologies such RDS and mobile VPNs.

You must also have specialist knowledge of the following:

• HP switch configuration
• Cisco wireless technologies
• Microsoft 2008 R2/ 2012 R2 server administration
• Microsoft Exchange Server
• VMWare/
• Microsoft RDS
