Job Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen within our small dynamic technical team for a Microsoft SQL DBA reporting to the Senior DBA.

Responsibilities

• Shared responsibility for all database Servers
• Be the first point of contact for database related errors
• Maintenance and administration of all SQL Server databases
• Index maintenance of all databases, particularly production
• Backups of all databases, particularly production
• Management of SQL Server security and compliance
• Investigation and troubleshooting SQL Server related issues including CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and resource contention
• Maintaining the database DR and HA setup for all production environments
• Change management and peer code reviews
• Active participant of the out of hours on-call rota
• Documentation - responsible for maintaining processes and procedures
• Strong proactive monitoring experience including sizing analysis

Requirements

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science or similar. 2.1 or above
• 2+ Years experience in a similar role
• Working experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2014/16
• Troubleshooting experience/knowledge
• Understanding of both OLTP and OLAP databases
• An understanding of Windows technologies
• Knowledge of working with Agile development teams
• Knowledge of the following technologies Github, Redgate Source control, Visual Studio, SSDT, tSQLt, and Powershell
• Experience of other technologies such as MySQL, Elasticsearch and NoSQL
