THE ROLE: As a Senior Support Worker your role role will involve supporting adults in all aspects of daily living including personal care, household tasks and community access. The role also includes supporting the Manager, in understanding and assisting the on-going creation and maintenance of a team capable of delivering an outstanding service. You will be committed to working positively in supporting people with a range of complex needs including; Learning disabilities, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, non- verbal communication and/or autistic spectrum disorders.

The post will be over a 7 day period including days, evenings, nights, bank holidays and weekends.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Support Worker's role in Kirkby in Ashfield (near Mansfield), Nottinghamshire include:
  • Support the Service Manager/Deputy manager in their absence and oversee the day to day running of the service by communicating effectively and efficiently with colleagues and other staff.
  • Take day to day responsibility for the duration of the shift and delegate tasks to Support Workers as agreed with the Service Manager/Deputy Manager
  • Assist in the leadership, support and supervision of the staff team as delegated by the Service Manager as well as staff rotas
  • To offer support to service users on an individual basis consistent with the aims and objectives of the service and the wider organisation.
  • To maintain accurate records and prepare reports in accordance with Company policies
  • To participate in the On-Call rota to provide support as and when required to by the Service Manager/Deputy
  • To contribute to the development of appropriate, individualised and achievable Person Centered Plans. Supporting and enabling individuals to have their say in mapping out and planning current and future service provision

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the Senior Support Workers role must have have an NVQ level 3 or be committed to working towards this (training will be funded by the employer). You must be a naturally caring and compassionate person with previous experience working as a Support Worker, who is genuinely committed to understanding and supporting people with a range of complex needs including; Learning disabilities, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, non-verbal communication and/or autistic spectrum disorders. You must be flexible with the hours you can work as will be required to work occasional weekends and evenings and must live within or be able to commute to Kirkby in Ashfield. All positions are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service - paid by employer).

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Senior Support Worker's role in Kirkby in Ashfield (near Mansfield), Nottinghamshire :-
  • Must have a NVQ level 3 in Health & Social care or must be committed to working towards this
  • Must have previous experience as a Support Worker
  • Experience or ability to lead and supervise a team of staff is essential
  • Must be flexible with the hours you can work an available to work a rota shift pattern
  • Must live within commutable distance to Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire
  • Must be passionate about helping people and have the motivation to develop in this role
