Digital Wigwam have an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Technician to join their team based in Sale, Manchester.
Job Title: IT Support Technician
Location: Sale, Manchester
Salary: £21,000 - £25,000 DOE + Pension + Benefits
Digital Wigwam is a technology company focused around bespoke software development and turn-key solutions. Our history dates back to 1999 when a small team of programmers were busy creating middle-ware solutions and online applications. Today much of the core of those solutions are still in use and complemented by a continually evolving portfolio of tools and technologies.

In 2014 Digital Wigwam became part of the Maud Group to enable us to leverage a wider skill set for clients which extends our portfolio of skills to include virtualisation, hardware design and embedded solutions.
IT Support Technician - The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic IT Support Technician to join our team. Hours between 9am-5.30pm. Although mostly an in-house role, there is an element of travel to support the other sites we cover, and therefore you will need your own transport.
As an IT Support Technician you will be providing remote technical support to external users of a bespoke software system. We are a small team so you will cover a wide range of services and skills so the role will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd line, infrastructure and network support. This is a busy and fast paced role so you must be able to work well under pressure in order to fulfil customer service level agreements.
Duties will include:
- Answering the phone, dealing with technical queries for software applications
- Delivering solutions and excellent customer service in a timely manner
- Training options are available so this is a good chance to gain extra skills working in a busy but friendly environment
Please note that the main team is based in Witham, Essex and the role we are recruiting for will be based in our office in Sale, Manchester. You must be able to work unsupervised and be able to manage your own workload.
IT Support Technician - The Candidate:
- Strong desktop and server support skills in Windows and Linux. MacOS knowledge would be useful
- Windows Server 2003/2008/2012; Linux Server and Terminal Server skills
- Microsoft Exchange
- Active Directory in a mid-size configuration
- DHCP, DNS, and familiarity with wireless networks and networking
- Strong IP skills an advantage
- Good understanding of common desktop applications (Word, Excel) to assist users over the phone or via desk visits
- Good problem solving and diagnosis skills
- Excellent communication and solid customer support skills as you will be providing support to users at all levels including Directors
Although not essential, these skills and experience would be desirable:
- We make heavy use of Citrix Xen Server so anyone with previous experience would be preferred
- Previous exposure to logistics or freight forwarding would be a major advantage as the role operates from our customer's premises in Sale, Manchester (a well-established freight forwarder)
- SQL Server
