Job Title: Compliance Officer

Salary: GBP25,000 GBP30,000 (negotiable depending on experience)

Location: Blackpool

The Compliance Officer, CO focuses on all products to ensure all items within our range are sourced and supplied in support of all required compliance frameworks. Through continual assessment of the product range, supplier developments and range enhancements, the CO will ensure all product received is compliant form in respect of quality and component parts. The CO will ensure all product information has relevant data set to support any purchasing or manufacturing decisions which are taken, and make any adjustments or amends to support the appearance of complaint product within our range. Success in this role will primarily be measured on your ability to work independently with accuracy.

Role Responsibilities

- Plan and coordinate activities of the business to ensure compliance with ethical, regulatory and other relevant standards e.g. Reach, RoHS CE, (ISO14001), and quality (ISO 9001), Sedex
- Maintain a strong understanding of EU compliance legislation and product safety regulations to ensure the entire company range is fit for purpose and onward supply to foreign markets can be confirmed.
- Be responsible for product quality for the imported product lines, ensuring all supplier quality issues are addressed and internal stakeholders are advised accordingly, e.g. purchasing, warehouse, finance, marketing, operations.
- Continually monitor Far East and UK suppliers to ensure compliance standards are adhered to and maintained.
- Conduct Internal and Far East/Overseas audits to ensure that compliance and responsible manufacturing procedures are followed.
- Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies to ensure sales do not suffer and the product range is not negatively compromised.
- Conduct environmental audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards, e.g. Sedex ,SMETA to provide a range which is environmentally compliant and is manufactured in support of (ISO14001), and quality (ISO 9001), compile and complete all supporting data which aligns with any submissions required.
- Work on the NPD team, work with the process to ensure amongst other issues we are able to identify a suitable product which is compliant to increase our recycled product offerings within the range
- Complete the Waste Electronic Goods, Batteries and Packaging data submissions to ensure all data is submitted to the relevant regulatory body.
- Report back to Senior Management team on compliance performance for entire product range.
- Review marketing materials, presentations and websites to ensure compliance is a major focus and sales tool for the business.
- Ensures development of knowledge for self, and site members, both to achieve / maintain relevant and appropriate Compliance understanding and to keep up to date with legislative changes and their impact on the site/business and their product stream. Deliver quality and compliance training to SPS staff to ensure a full understanding of the growing importance of compliance and product safety.
- Represent the company at internal and external meetings in relation to Product Compliance
- The Compliance Officer, liaises with all external accreditation bodies, the HSE, Environment Agency, Water Authorities, local Environmental Health Officers (EHOs), Trading Standards Officers (TSOs). In relation to production and recycling of imported and manufactured product.
- Responsible for coordinating the sites compliance validation processes by internal and external bodies including, Customer Audits, BRC, SEDEX, OHSAS18001, ISO14001 and any other bodies agreed with the Operations Director.
- Supports Operations teams to ensuring compliance and issue resolution arising from internal and external audits. Co-ordinates the issue through to issue conclusion, and produce documentation and reporting to support all actions taken.
