Stobart Group have an exciting opportunity for a HR Officer to join their team based in Carlisle.
Job Title: HR Officer
Location: Carlisle
Salary: Up to £30,000 + Benefits
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Stobart Group is an Infrastructure and Support Services business operating in the biomass energy, railway maintenance and aviation sectors as well as having investments in a property and logistics portfolio.
HR Officer - What’s the role?
The HR Officer offers several support functions to the rest of Stobart Group therefore this role is extremely varied in its nature. The HR Officer is involved in a range of activities that cover areas such as disciplinary, recruitment, policy review, induction, employee engagement and performance management. The HR Officer is required to respond quickly in an effective and commercial way, providing excellent internal customer service to all departments and line managers.
HR Officer - What will I be responsible for?
- Working closely with other departments, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
- Assisting in the recruitment of staff, this includes developing job descriptions, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates
- Ensure all new starters to the business are issued a contract of employment and new starter pack and that all references are followed up
- Develop, review and implement Company policies and procedures
- Plan and deliver inductions for new employees
- Organise and assist the chair with the quarterly employee forum, producing minutes and following up on any outstanding actions
- Ensure exit interviews are carried out with all leavers from the business and trends are analysed, reported and followed up on
- Ensuring that employment law knowledge is up to date to ensure that you can interpret and advise correctly
- Dealing with and supporting grievances and disciplinary matters
- Manage the occupational health of new and existing employees including annual health surveillance and face fit testing
- Follow up on areas raised in the employee health questionnaires with the employee and record on personnel file
- Assist with the creation and implementation of employee initiatives to ensure that all employees feel engaged and valued
- Involvement with further ad-hoc projects allocated by the Group HR Manager
