Committed to attracting talent and nurturing career progression our client is the leader in their field and an instantly recognisable brand name. As such they are looking for Trainee Chemists to join their Research & Development Team, made up of talented Chemists and Technical specialists. They'll even support and fund your development through a degree level apprenticeship as a Laboratory Scientist, whilst you embark upon a structured 5-year development journey with them.

What your role will be

You will gain exposure to various business sections, which together form their Technical division, from paint formulation and colour chemistry, to polymer chemistry and quality control / assurance. Spending dedicated time in each section, you will be evaluating new raw materials, selecting test methods, observing, recording and interpreting the results, to developing new products, utilising the knowledge you will acquire of various formulations' properties.

Due to the nature of the role, they require individuals who are IT literate and willing to learn how to effectively use laboratory computer software daily. Health & Safety is also of paramount importance; therefore you will be expected to comply with H&S procedures at all times.

Who we are looking for?

We're looking for Chemists of the future, therefore it goes without saying that you will need to be educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent) in three subjects, primarily Chemistry, with a predicted grade of either A or B in this subject. In addition, you will need a minimum of five GCSEs (A*-C), including English and Mathematics.

Current Chemists are highly customer focussed, organised, accurate and not afraid of working under pressure to tight deadlines, so you will be expected to follow in their footsteps. Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial to enable collaboration with fellow team members as well as colleagues cross-functionally across the Group. Additionally, a drive and dedication to improving yourself and adapting is key, as your role in time will transform and grow.

What's on offer for you?

These roles comprise two parts; on-the-job training allowing you to gain a broad understanding of the dedicated sections within the company Technical division, and off-the-job part-time study leading to the achievement of a BSc Honours Degree in Chemical Science. Alongside an attractive base salary and excellent working environment, other benefits offered to employees include:

- 28 days basic annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays) and flexible working hours
- A variety of discounts / vouchers on products
- A generous pension plan where the Group will match, and even double your contribution
- Plus multiple other benefits relating to your health and wellbeing.
