The Russian Service has staff based in London and Moscow and other locations, and a large part of the output is from the Moscow bureau. The Service's output aims to make international news relevant to a Russian-speaking audience, and bring international perspectives to Russian and FSU developments. It aims to report in a lively and engaging fashion, and interactivity forms a large part of its content across all platforms.
Role Responsibility
Working in a multimedia team of journalists, you will write and create original material for all multimedia output, including text stories, radio, video and TV reports. You will be responsible for moving a story on, amending and updating material as required, and working to make our output interactive. In order to do this, you will research, report, write, translate and adapt stories or programme material into Russian. You will be producing and presenting items, reports, packages, interviews and discussions, and also report in text, audio and video from the field from time to time in a range of formats. Shift work is required that includes nights, weekends and public holidays.
The Ideal Candidate
With proven recent and relevant journalistic experience, you will have a wide and up to date knowledge of Russian and international affairs. You will have Russian as your first (or equivalent) language, a full comprehension of English, and the ability to write, translate and adapt material accurately and to the deadline. You will have the ability to write original material and adapt stories for multimedia output, and have experience of reporting in the field.
