Engineering Supervisor

Sheffield

6.15am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday

Role Purpose

* Working closely with the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible for the daily supervision and operational support management of the process within Ultra Large section of the business.
* The main focus will be to achieve the Operational Plan and daily Throughput targets.
* To create an efficient organization through cultural and operational change, delivering customer focus within strict HSE guidelines.
* Effective and efficient organization of all relevant personnel, including shift and overtime planning, absenteeism and holidays.
* Reporting of plant/machinery breakdowns and ensuring that recovery plans are put in place.
* Promote and developing clear lines of communication between sections and other business team leaders and staff.
* To ensure that distractions on the Production Department, particularly our Planner, are kept to an absolute minimum.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

* Management of first line disciplinary matters
* Ensure all relevant areas are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and tidiness in accordance with 6S targets.
* Promote a continuous improvement culture through leadership and best practice.
* Ensure all relevant tooling, plant and machinery is maintained in order to minimise downtime.
* Ensure TPM and Scheduled daily maintenance checks are carried out and maintained on all relevant plant and equipment.
* Maintain cross training profile to ensure total flexibility and depth of skills in the team
* Manage NCR (Non Conformance Reporting) process and Quality in line with operational targets.
* Ensure all Visual Management boards are up to date and all KPI's maintained
* Supervision of customer inspection visits
* Supervision of the dispatch processes
* Health, Safety and Environment
* Ensure shop personnel adhere to ALL Health and safety practices.
* Ensure safe working procedures and risk assessments are adhered to at all times by all personnel.
* Report any Health, Safety or Environmental issues plus carry out any relevant improvement activity.
* Attend Monthly HS and Environmental meetings and complete all relevant actions as required.
* Assist in the modification of risk assessments and operating practices as and when required
* Ensure relevant personnel comply to all HSE requirements and practice i.e. Daily fork truck checks, daily crane checks, correct use of lifting gear, Waste segregation etc.
* Compliance with HSE guidelines as issued by HSE Manager

Measures

* On time delivery performance
* Quality statistics (re-work) and Cost of Quality
* Accident stats
* Absenteeism and sickness performance of team members
* Accident reporting including Near Miss
* 6S standards

People responsibility

* Ensure good communication between all team leaders, operators and staff.
* Participate as part of Improvement based teams to ensure the timely completion of projects as required.

Scope of decision making

* Prioritization of men and machines to hit the plan
* Creation and execution of recovery plans as required to hit the plan
* Carry out first line discipline as required
* Suggest organizational improvements and cost reductions to the Operations Manager
