Here at The Mallard, in Glasgow we provide a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for children who need support. Our focus is on building their self-esteem and confidence. Making sure that they also enjoy tasty and nutritious food is right at the heart of that, which is why this rewarding role is so important.
Don’t think for a moment that you’ll spend all of your time shut away in the kitchen though. You’ll talk to our service users, to find out what they like and to make sure they’re happy with their meals, as well as to relatives and the rest of the team here.
That’s why we used the word ‘rewarding’ earlier. Just hearing one of the children say “I really liked that soup” with a big smile on their face can make a huge difference to your day.
As well as cooking everything from scratch, you’ll order and check deliveries, update menus and generally keep paperwork up-to-date. So you will need to be well organised and able to manage your own time. We’re also looking for experience of CookSafe and preferably an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
In return, there’s an excellent benefits package that includes an employer contributory pension and generous holiday allowance.
What’s more, you will be part of one of Scotland’s largest voluntary social work organisations. At CrossReach, we offer quality care and counselling to a wide range of people in need. But the real story of CrossReach is the work that our staff do: reaching out and making a real difference to the lives of others. If you’d like to join them, we look forward to hearing from you.
As we do our work in Christ’s name, applicants must be in sympathy with and supportive of our Christian Ethos. This post is subject to PVG Membership.
For more information and to apply please visit www.crossreach.org.uk/all-vacancies or call 0141 558 7575.
Closing date: 11th June 2017.
CrossReach is the operating name for The Church of Scotland Social Care Council.
