Accounting Analyst, Part qualified AAT/CIMA/ACCA, Ledger, Journals, Camberley, 6 months
Bank of America Merrill Lynch are looking to appoint an Accountant, Accounting Analyst to their offices in Camberley. The role supports the HR/payroll function with General Ledger and Journal Feeds. As part of EMEA HR Shared Services (HRSS), the HR Finance & Cash Controls Team is responsible for supporting the financial components of payroll and benefits processing, including G/L posting of the payroll, the booking of all EMEA HR bank entries, reconciliation of the suspense and control accounts, and monthly financial status reporting.
This individual will regularly liaise with the EMEA Payroll team, other internal finance teams (both within the UK and within local branch offices) and the wider HR group.
This role will assist the EMEA HR Finance & Cash Manager in the overall operation of the function. The key areas of support will include the following;
* Reconciliation of the HR/payroll control and suspense accounts.
* Reporting on the status of these accounts.
* Production of reports and statistical analysis as required.
* Production and management of desktops and documentation on current processes.
* Variance analysis.
* Preparation of some postings to the payroll and benefits accounts monthly in the UK and Europe
* Cash Book Reconciliation& posting
* HR Accrual booking & analysis
* Ad hoc administration duties
Core skills:
* Understand the importance of the accuracy required to perform the standards expected at all times and understand the importance of meeting deliverable times.
* Ability to work on your own initiative and think proactively;
* Excellent PC skills - in particular Microsoft Excel
* A proven ability to prioritise and organise workload on a changing basis.
* Excellent communication skills (written & oral) as this role will liaise with multiple teams cross the organisation.
* Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
* Have good analytical skills and should display initiative in proposing improvements to the current process.
* Awareness of the need for professional behaviour to all internal and external parties
* Team player with positive and flexible attitude.
* Organised and the ability to priorities workload
* Have the ability to become proficient with all internal/external systems e.g. Oracle Financials, Recon/Frontier.
* Ability to learn new systems & workflows quickly.
* Strong analytical skills.
General Criteria:
Background in any of the following is essential:
* General ledger/Account reconciliation.
* A solid background in accounting or experience in a similar position.
* Preparation of journals for posting to the general ledger.
Background/skills in any of the following is desirable:
* A working knowledge of Oracle FGI.
* Working knowledge of payroll costing & balance sheet reconciliation
* Bank Account GL entries & reconciliation.
