Job Purpose:
The Senior Platform Systems Engineer is responsible for the support, builds and any updates to the central and hospital based applications and infrastructure in order to provide a professional, effective and highly available service.
The Senior Platform Systems Engineer will also supervise and assist other members of the team, often advising and leading a project or major incident through to resolution.
Accountabilities
Responsible for dealing with and resolving all incidents, change and problem records logged via the service desk management solution, including email to ensure that resolutions are maintained within SLA
Delivery of service improvement activities and Additional Service Request (ASR) projects on time is critical to supporting the business through evolving change.
- Effectively prioritise project delivery without compromising BAU activity, both personally and across the team.
- Liaising with 3rd parties where necessary as part of project/ASR work. Regular capacity reviews and proactive maintenance to ensure high levels of service availability are a key responsibility.
- Identification and recording of business and technical risk to the Technical Operations Manager.
- Maintaining hardware & software contracts, including asset inventory via LANDesk.
PERSON PROFILE:
Qualifications and Training
- Microsoft MCITP / MCSA / MCSE qualifications
- Other, non-Microsoft technology, qualifications (e.g. Citrix, VMWare, EMC)
- ITIL foundation
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in an enterprise IT Support position
- Detailed understanding and specialisation of several core technologies (e.g. Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory)
Knowledge and Technical Ability
- Broad understanding / awareness of Operating Systems, Database infrastructure, Networking and key applications
- Good grasp of project management techniques and ability to run with project requests and manage through to completion.
