We are working on behalf of a local Hospice with sites at Warwick and Coventry. The hospice provides palliative care for the people in need of it in and around Warwickshire and Coventry. The client has an opening for a Qualified Chef to be based at Coventry.
The Qualified Chef is to work as part of the catering team, delivering a high class service to patients and staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing a range of high quality, freshly prepared meals to relevant food hygiene standards, and to undertake a range of general catering duties.
Minimum Qualifications required NVQ 2/3 in Catering and CIEH Certificate in Food Hygiene or equivalent.
The hours are worked in accordance with the rota to provide a 7 day service to the Hospice and may include evenings and weekends. You may need to provide cover at the Coventry Hospice on occasions.
Working hours: 35 weekly
Salary: £17,000 per annum pro rata
Key Responsibilities:
To support the Catering Manager in providing a quality catering service at Coventry Hospice and occasionally at our other sites.
- To produce a range of high quality, freshly prepared meals to relevant food hygiene standards.
- To obtain from patients (and relevant nursing staff as appropriate) patient menu orders. To prepare and deliver meals to patients at appropriate service times.
- To assist the Catering Manager with stock control. To daily record usage of food / catering products & materials and report as required in accordance with procedure.
- To ensure sufficient and appropriate stock is maintained at all times.
- To minimise food and other product wastage.
- To assist with kitchen and equipment cleaning.
- To comply with all relevant health, safety and hygiene procedures.
- To assist with special functions, some of which may occur outside normal working hours and to assist, when necessary, with menu rota preparation.
- To provide a professional customer focussed service at all times.
- To report any customer compliments or complaints to the Catering Manager.
- To immediately report any untoward incidents, including infestation, accidents, equipment or facility failure or damage.
