About the DevOps Data Engineer role

A technology driven role where you’ll provide your AWS and DevOps ability to aid us in supporting, maintaining, configuring Hummingbird; Big Data real-time enrichment service, which has been deployed into Amazon Web Services, utilising ElasticSearch production system, Microservices architecture, Java 8, and Spring Integration.  You will contribute to the continued growth of the Hummingbird client base as well as the growth of the current client base.  Being the “go to” person for development operations inquiries or any other complex systems related issues. We work in a fast paced environment utilising Scrum, and Kanban practices; running 2 weekly development sprints. One in every 5 sprints is dedicated to innovation, and embracing new technologies, promoting start-up culture.

As our DevOps Data Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to recommend new technology solutions that can add value and improve the Hummingbird product. You may find yourself automating processes using Terra form one day, scripting in Bash, creating EC2 instances, or using ElasticSearch powerful features such as Kibana, and Logstash another day .

What we’re looking for in our DevOps Data Engineer

You will have a passion to explore technology solutions combined with operational support experience and the following:

- Demonstrable experience in an Operations or System Engineering role.

- Experience of using AWS Cloud

- Sound understanding of ElasticStack (ElasticSearch, Kibana, Watcher, and Logstash)

- Experience or understanding of managing a Linux environment including administration and configuration.

- Experience of using Automations tools such as Terraform

- Proven experience of scripting in Python, Bash, or Perl

- Exposure to continuous integration and build tools

- Understanding of Micro-Services Architecture

Desirable:

- Java 8

- Provisioning via AWS CloudFormation

- AWS Certified Solution Associate
