Male Deafblind Community Support Worker

We are passionate about providing the very best services; in hospitals, at home, in residential care and in the community. Whether someone is newly diagnosed or has lived their whole life with reduced sight, our specialist staff provide a vital lifeline to many local people.

This role involves supporting people who have a sight and hearing loss or have a dual sensory impairment and an additional disability to become as independent as possible through supporting individual choice and control.

You will be required to carry out enablement support as required, support people to access their community through their preferred method of travel, and to enable individuals to communicate as fully as possible, in any given situation by providing access to written communication.

You will need experience of working with people with sight loss and or hearing impaired, experience of supporting people in communication and making informed choices, ability to work to deadlines and work under pressure, excellent written and communication skills, the use of ICT, be punctual for appointments and ability to work flexibly and possibly out of hours to suit the needs of the service.

You will be required to work 22 hours per week, flexibly Monday to Friday with the requirement to work occasional weekends and some unsocial hours to meet service needs.
