++ We’re looking for candidates to fill a junior developer role in our digital agency business. We’re looking for someone who is a comfortable programmer who understands the value of doing things the right way, not the quick way ++

You might already have some commercial development experience, or maybe up to now it’s all been academic, but you’ll have a basic grasp of the web and how it works, and you’ll understand some basic design patterns, like MVC. We’ll provide training (both formal and ad-hoc) to get you up to speed from there.

As part of your role you'll be working on green-field projects, while researching new techniques, working with new APIs, maintaining our existing software and systems, and learning to manage our technical infrastructure. 

Our junior developers aren’t relegated to a support role; you’ll be working on real code, for real clients with high expectations. You'll be working with our existing team of developers; you'll learn as much from us as we will from you. We support all our staff by providing training, conference tickets, and a work environment which encourages best practices.

You’ll be based in our Northern Quarter, Manchester office.

Junior Developer Requirements:

We're open to applications from all developers, regardless of experience, but ideally you'd answer 'yes' to at least six of the following. The rest we will provide training for:

+ An understanding of HTTP. You should know the difference between GET and POST, why there is a difference, and when to use them.
+ Existing knowledge of a dynamic language, such a Python, Javascript or Ruby. Our primary tool is Django, which is written in Python.
+ Knowledge of the model-view-controller pattern, and how it applies to modern web applications. Hopefully you’ll have some experience with a web framework.
+ An understanding of test driven development. Unit testing as a concept shouldn’t be new to you, and ideally you’ll have some real-world experience with testing.
+ You should be comfortable with the command line.
+ Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and how they fit together to build a web application.
+ Ability to communicate effectively. We use company-wide chat and heavily rely on well written tickets and commit messages to update our clients.
+ Ability to make pragmatic decisions, and then to defend them!
