About the role - Scientific Project Manager, Neuroscience:

This role combines both science and project management. We are looking to recruit a scientist specialised in neuroscience to help us actively support company initiatives, ideally with some project management training and experience. This scientific project manager role will report into the portfolio project manager and will be involved in managing product development projects and pipeline activities in Cambridge and global sites.

The job is based at our Cambridge (UK) site but the job holder will work closely with other project stakeholders in all global locations.

This role is for a full-time project manager but 4 day working will be considered for the right candidate. The role is offered as a 12-month maternity cover and we would be looking for a start date at the beginning of July.

Scientific Project Manager, Neuroscience - Job responsibilities

Project Management

- Responsible for project management of a large scale up-validation project to ensure products meet a high standard of quality and meet customer requirements.
- Interact with cross functional groups in a productive, collaborative manner.
- Ensure project plans are established with input from key stakeholders and provide regular project status and metrics updates.
- Influence project members to ensure timely delivery of the project deliverables.
- Maintain an up-to-date project plan continuously checking project deliverables against the business case.
- Chair regular project meetings and provide minutes to key stakeholders.
- Maintain an accurate record of project budgets.

Research Area Focus - Neuroscience

- Provide expertise in neuroscience within the New Product Development (NPD) function and across the company.
- Responsible for managing the neuroscience NPD pipeline from initial target selection to final catalog product.
- Build working relationships with both the neuroscience research area manager in marketing and our pipeline teams based in Cambridge, China and the US.
- Work closely with the characterisation teams and project managers in Cambridge to up-validate existing products.
- Work with the marketing research area manager to guide and maintain the neuroscience portfolio long term plan. Understanding the needs of neuroscience researchers and how we can help them reach their goal.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience or equivalent experience. You will be very knowledgeable on current neuroscience techniques and have a good understanding on the needs of researchers working in this field.

Although a formal project management qualification would be advantageous (such as Prince 2), it is not essential. You will have some experience of managing different types of projects with at least 1-2 years project management experience.

Experienced in using antibody reagents and a strong scientific understanding of processes involved in their development, including monoclonal and polyclonal reagents is preferable. An understanding of antibody validation techniques such as WB, IHC, ICC, flow is essential.

You will be highly organised, be comfortable working to deadlines, prioritising different projects and have outstanding attention to detail.
