2nd / 3rd line support engineer is needed by our client one of the uks leading
MSPs to be based in their Stockport offices. The company who house their own Data Centre is both successful and profitable and on a journey for growth with ambitious plans in place.
They are now looking to expand the support team with an experienced Senior Support Technician, to provide 2nd and 3rd line communications, hosting and engineering support. The successful individual will be energetic, personable and enthusiastic and be able to combine excellent customer service and communication skills with a broad knowledge of networks and Internet technologies. A background in support is essential and formal networking qualifications (e.g. CCNA, VCP or MCITP) would be a real bonus. You should be confident of working with a young team of technicians and be willing to work out of normal hours to respond to system issues and to prevent customer downtime. A full clean driving licence will be required with access to own transport.
Technical Attributes:
Understanding of network infrastructure (Domains/Security/DHCP).
Experience with web servers, mail servers, DNS.
Good knowledge of Linux, Microsoft Windows & Office / Windows Server / Active Directory / Network / TCP/IP / DNS / Group Policy / DHCP / Exchange / SAN / NSA / VMware / VLAN.
Experience with configuration of routers and firewalls.
SAN configuration, provisioning and administration of virtual storage, in conjunction with VMware vSphere.
VMware administration, including monitoring, provisioning, housekeeping and troubleshooting activities to maintain a stable environment.
Proven networking skills, including a sound knowledge of IP Routing, VLAN's, QoS, POE and ACL's / VPNs / Terminal Services / Citrix
Personal and Communication Skills:
Customer focused, with experience of providing advice and guidance to customers over the telephone, e-mail and Internet with a proven track record of service delivery.
Organised and methodical, with the ability to work to targets and goals.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with the ability of working within a demanding environment and be able to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving.
Patience and ability to remain calm under pressure, whilst showing initiative at all times and an ability to apply a lateral thought process to problem resolution.
