Warehouse Night Shift Supervisor

Canute is looking for a Warehouse Night Shift supervisor to work within the existing warehouse team at the Midlands Distribution Centre at Coventry.

As a Warehouse Night Shift Supervisor you will supervise the shift activities:- pick, pack, goods in, cross-dock , replenishment, vehicle offloading and loading and other general warehouse duties.  Your key duties and responsibilities will be:

• The supervision of the day to day running of the warehouse shift operations and the execution of work schedules to ensure operations are delivered on time and to agreed quality service levels / Key Performance Indicators/targets.
• The improvement of team member capabilities and skills. The identification of development opportunities, mentoring, training and coaching where possible of the team. The use of company appraisal processes, the setting of personal objectives and the agreement of personal development plans to support performance improvement
• The ensuring that operations on site are in line with customer & company policy and procedures and comply with all legal stipulations, health & safety and environmental requirements
• The provision of operational, customer required reporting to agreed formats, content and frequency
• The support and development of a continuous improvement culture. The identification, validation and implementation of new opportunities for improved performance in health & safety, process efficiency, service quality and profitability.

This role reports into the Warehouse Manager. The need to be able to work flexibly across all shifts and to work the hours necessary to complete all required activities are an essential part of the role.

A Warehouse Night Shift Supervisor will have the following skills and qualifications:

• Have demonstrable operational warehouse experience within a busy Warehouse/pick pack / Cross-dock operation and supervisory experience
• Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, particularly intermediate level Excel, Access & PowerPoint. Knowledge of Red Prairie and use of Hand Held Terminals for Warehouse Operations a distinct advantage
• Be accustomed to dealing with fast paced environments in a calm methodical manner with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Have well developed people communication skills – verbal and written, be competent in supervising warehouse shift operations including delegation, allocation of tasks, and resolution of daily operational and people issues, be aware of the need to operate to agreed budgets for overtime/additional resources and take operational decisions to ensure efficient & effective shift performance & customer service delivery. 
• Be a team player and team leader, with drive, determination and a desire to succeed.
• High standards and attention to detail are essential as is the ability to follow standard operating procedures and ensure the team works to the required level of accuracy and speed.
• Have a counterbalance / reach qualification
• Be calm under pressure, reliable and adaptable with a flexible attitude towards hours and shift patterns
• Have an attitude and general predisposition towards high levels of customer service along with the drive and commitment to deliver a world class service.
